About The Position

The Certified Endoscopy Technician supports the Department of Gastroenterology by providing management of the scopes and scope disinfectant equipment at each division. This position ensures that all duties related to the supply of scopes and equipment management are appropriately performed accurately, efficiently, and productively. This position cleans, maintains, and participates in the scope disinfection process. The Certified Endoscopy Technician is responsible for performing a yearly scope cleaning/disinfection competency. This position ensures the working order of the endoscopy equipment and supplies. This position reports broken equipment and expired supplies to the Lead Endoscopy technician. This position supports the endoscopy team by assisting with patient care related duties and procedures as requested or necessary. The Certified Endoscopy Technician assists the physician and registered nurse during Endoscopic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and delivers care in a prompt and professional manner. Duties include but are not limited to; assisting with laboratory specimens, disinfection of equipment, ensuring availability of supplies, and other support functions as given. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certified registered central sterile technician certification (CRCST) required.
  • Certified endoscope reprocessor (CER) required.
  • Certified flexible endoscope reprocessor (CFER) required.
  • BLSHCP certification required within 90 days from date of hire or transfer.
  • Gastric Intestinal Certification required.
  • Minimum 1 year endoscopy/GI Lab experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Manage scopes and scope disinfectant equipment.
  • Clean and maintain endoscopy equipment.
  • Participate in the scope disinfection process.
