About The Position

The Certified (Licensed) Electrician receives directions from the Maintenance Manager and works independently with a focus on electrical maintenance and processes. The Certified (Licensed) Electrician is responsible for ensuring that electrical systems are installed and maintained in compliance with local and national codes and regulations. The work of a Certified (Licensed) Electrician requires the use of hand and power tools, as well as the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. They must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose problems and have a strong knowledge of electrical theory and principles. They play a critical role in ensuring that electrical systems are installed, maintained, and repaired in a safe and efficient manner. Requirements

  • Knowledge of electrical theory and principles.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and electrical schematics.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safety and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work on-call and outside of normal business hours, if required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Skill in dealing with others including IEA employees, suppliers, and end-users.
  • Ability to lead and work independently.
  • Ability to conduct research (problem identification, data collection, analysis, solution formulation, testing, and evaluation).
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and the ability to follow safe work practices.
  • Five or more years of industrial electrical experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Trade School or Apprenticeship
  • Valid, DSPS Master Electrician License – State Of Wisconsin

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating electrical equipment, systems and processes to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Install, maintain and repair electrical systems, including lighting, power and control systems.
  • Diagnosing electrical issues and troubleshoot problems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and electrical schematics.
  • Comply with local and national electrical codes and regulations.
  • Train and supervise apprentices and junior electricians.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed.
  • Ensure all electrical work is completed to a high standard and in a timely manner.
  • Keep abreast of the latest electrical technologies and advancements.
  • Maintains a positive, discrimination-free workplace for all employees.
