Make a Difference This position supports the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist by providing dosimetry services to the Radiation Oncology Department. This position works using critical thinking and problem-solving skills to complete medical dosimetry related activities

Requirements

  • Applicants for this position should be able to collaborate with others in a team setting, have excellent communication skills, and a positive attitude toward problem-solving.
  • 2 year / Associate Degree : Registered Radiation Therapist or Bachelor's Degree\: Graduate from a JRCERT accredited program who are MDCB eligible will be considered. (Required)
  • Certification/Licensure\: Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) by the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (MDCB) (required)
  • 0+ years\: Two years’ experience preferred (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Aria/ECLIPSE/Epic platforms is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Designing treatment plans according to the Radiation Oncologist’s prescription that delivers optimal radiation does distribution considering patient specific anatomy, maximizing dose to the treatment target and sparing dose to critical structures.
  • Skilled in various treatment planning techniques: 3D, static field IMRT, VMAT, electrons identify and contours structures, CT, MRI, and PET image sets.
  • Assists in the design and fabrication of custom treatment planning devices (boluses/compensators)
  • Communicates with all members of the Radiation Oncology team as needed: Radiation Oncologist, Medical Physicist, Radiation Therapist and other staff.
  • Performing verification of plan integrity and monitor unit calculations using designated software applications.
  • Providing assistance to the Medical Physicist as needed.
  • Participating in research, continuing education and departmental quality improvement processes.
  • This includes knowledge of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations and other regulatory agencies.
  • Complies with department and hospital guidelines and policies.
