The Certified Coding Specialist position at SGPA in Brunswick, GA involves identifying and coding all patient discharges while maintaining a 96% accuracy rate. The role requires a thorough understanding of policies, procedures, and federal guidelines related to coding and other work performed in the Medical Records Department, specifically in Coding Clinics AHA and the CPT Assistant AMA. The specialist will monitor accounts not selected for billing to prevent inappropriate delays in coding and will communicate current and revised coding changes to ancillary departments and Medical Staff members. Additionally, the position involves completing physician queries in accordance with AHIMA standards and reviewing all CDI concurrent reviews before the release of inpatient accounts for billing. The specialist must also review injection, infusion, OPS, and ER charges for accuracy while assigning codes for billing, ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Centers of Medicaid & Medicare Services and other regulatory agencies.
