About The Position

The Certified Child Life Specialist at The Woman's Hospital of Texas plays a crucial role in supporting the emotional and developmental needs of pediatric patients and their families during hospitalization. This position involves planning and conducting Child Life Programs, collaborating with healthcare providers, and ensuring continuity of care to enhance patient outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with a focus in Child Life/Child Development required; Master's degree and/or completed fellowship program preferred.
• Completion of internship in a Child Life Program is required.
• Child Life Specialist Certification or eligibility to obtain certification within six months of hire is required.
• 2 years of pediatric experience is required; NICU experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification is required.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in Child Life/Child Development
• Completion of a fellowship program in Child Life
• Experience in a NICU setting

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and conduct Child Life Programs for inpatient infants, children, and their families.
• Establish, maintain, and improve patient healthcare goals through assessment and implementation of child life interventions.
• Complete assessments and documentation accurately and appropriately.
• Collaborate with other care providers to meet the needs of patients and ensure continuity of care.
