Requirements

  • Education: High School graduate or previous medical assistant experience required. Tertiary education preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: BLS certification required within six (6) months of hire. Must possess and maintain CCDS certification. Valid driver’s license required.
  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience with preference in cardiology or electrophysiology.
  • Past experience with interrogating and programming Pacemakers or ICD’s required.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of three (3) years clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs in-person and remote interrogations and programming of pacemakers, defibrillators, and implantable loop recorders using device company programmers, remote interrogations, inputting data in the proper systems and preparing reports for the physician and the billing department, occasional scheduling appointments, scanning reports.
  • Assists department with onboarding new staff as well as assists leadership with providing department continuing education opportunities for the team.
  • Interrogate and program pacemaker, ICD and ILR patients in OHHP clinics
  • Complete remote interrogation of pacemaker, ICD, and ILR reports and forward to the Cardiologist
  • Processes wearable cardiac defibrillator remote transmissions and forward reports to the Cardiologist’s team
  • Provide coverage as needed to all Pacemaker Clinic locations including rural clinics, which might involve operating a motor vehicle or flying on a small aircraft
  • Recognizes abnormalities, malfunctions and “end of service” indicators. Notifies Cardiologist and assists in scheduling patients for follow up or replacement as indicated
  • Coordinates and prioritizes with other members of the healthcare team to respond to, plan and initiate timely and efficient care
  • Educates patients and families regarding device function and clinic follow up
  • Forward information to referring physicians and providers
