About The Position

Evaluates athletic injuries and assesses the need for and implements appropriate athletic training intervention, which includes administrating modalities, therapeutic exercise, and preventative taping/bracing. Works together with the Chief Reliability Officer, and school athletic directors or intramural staff to provide services to local high school or collegiate athletes. This includes regular attendance at designated athletic practices and home sporting events. Develops in season and off-season training and conditioning programs as well as injury prevention clinics. Works with other athletic training staff to order supplies and maintain inventory control. Serves as the supervisory ATC for student athletic trainers. Maintains regular communication with student athletes, parents, coaches and physicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in athletic training.
  • CPR certification.
  • NATA Certification.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, treat and manage student athlete injuries.
  • Excellent communication skills with colleagues, staff and primary stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn and utilize new technologies.
  • Ability to manage time, tasks and resources appropriately.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret metrics.
  • Group presentations.
  • Familiar with the legal and regulatory requirements for high school athletic training standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in athletic training.
  • Two years of high school or collegiate athletic training experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the planning of programs and services relative to athletic training contracts.
  • Compile and evaluate data on patients’ responses to therapy.
  • Participate in injury tracking data program for the athletic training programs.
  • Analyze patient diagnosis and response to treatment to determine appropriateness of treatment plan being delivered.
  • Confer with members of the athletic training staff, school personnel and other health team members, individually and in conference, to exchange, evaluate, and discuss student athlete information for planning, modifying and coordinating treatment program.
  • Document necessary information on flow sheets and the EMR and report appropriately.
  • Communicate appropriately with school contract personnel to ensure continuity of care.
  • Communicate with student athletic trainers to ensure continuity of care and to extend the level of care.
  • Evaluate athletic injuries and implement appropriate treatment regimen, including the use of modalities, exercise and taping techniques.
  • Utilize computer technology for data collection and athlete testing.
