This contract will provide occupational medicine health services and electronic health records management for sworn staff from both the City of Phoenix (City) Fire and Police Departments as well as public safety personnel assigned to other jurisdictions throughout the region who have contracted with Phoenix Fire Department Health and Wellness Center (PFDHWC) for these services. Requirements

  • Nationally certified Athletic Trainer.
  • Licensed in the State of Arizona.
  • Master’s degree in health-related field (e.g. Athletic Training, Nutrition, Nursing, Sports Medicine, Biology, etc.).
  • Must have five years of experience in an outpatient sports medicine/orthopedic clinic.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with clinicians, patients and other healthcare providers.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified CSCS.
  • Experience with tactical athletes in a first responder environment.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience working with college or professional athletes and/or tactical athletes.
  • Working knowledge and experience with the IAFF/IAFC Wellness Fitness Initiative, and NFPA 1582 and OSHA 1910 related to firefighters

Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced clinical support under the direction of the Director of Rehabilitation Services and/or Physical Therapist.
  • Collaborate with Director of Rehabilitation Services and Physical Therapist on specific skilled interventions including evaluation, modalities, manual techniques and exercise prescription.
  • Must be able to evaluate patients’ functional ability/mobility and diagnose orthopedic injuries.
  • Must have a working knowledge of exercise prescription, assessment of movement and modification of job-related duties to minimize injuries.
  • Clearly understands the functional goals of their patients with timely and effective intervention.
  • Provides administrative support including patient intake forms, scheduling, supply management and ordering, communication with referral sources, PFDHWC staff, outside vendors and case managers.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling and gripping objects weighing up to 50 pounds is required.
