POSITION DETAILS: Job Title: Certified Athletic Trainer Practice: Foot, Ankle & Trauma Surgery; C. Thomas Haytmanek Jr., MD Status: This is a full-time, year-round, benefits eligible position Classification: Exempt - Salary Location: This position is primarily based in Vail, CO requiring occasional travel to other clinic locations. Schedule: Monday - Friday Pay Range: The entry pay for this position is $65,000 and is dependent on experience. Scheduled Start : Immediate CERTIFIED ATHLETIC TRAINER OVERVIEW: The Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) will play an integral role in the daily operations of a dynamic medical practice. Serving as a key member of the care team, the ATC will provide both clinical and administrative support, helping to ensure a seamless patient experience from initial evaluation through treatment and recovery. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: welcoming and preparing patients for their visit, conducting initial assessments, documenting medical histories, facilitating communication between patients and providers (including Physician Assistants and the surgeon), managing phone inquiries, supporting perioperative care, and contributing to rehabilitation and treatment planning. There may be opportunity for operating room responsibilities (depending on experience). This position requires close collaboration with the supervising physician and assigned practice's medical team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • Certification from the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers
  • National Athletic Trainer Association Membership (NATA)
  • State of Colorado license required.
  • Bachelor's degree required in related field such as Sports Medicine, Athletic Training or life sciences
  • Minimum of two years of experience required, with at least one year preferred in a physician office or clinical setting.
  • An immersive training and education program is provided and required for all non-residency-trained Athletic Trainers to ensure success in the role.
  • Current Certification in AHA or ARC Basic Life Support for healthcare providers required.
  • Strong knowledge of orthopedic injuries and rehabilitation techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and work flow management skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Using a multidisciplinary team approach, assess, evaluate and document orthopedic injuries and conditions of patients upon intake.
  • Obtain patient history, perform physical exams, educate patients and answer questions, organize notes and radiographs, casting/splinting, DME fitting as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to create and implement comprehensive treatment and rehabilitations plans.
  • Administrative duties including, but not limited to filling out patient's FMLA paperwork, scheduling patient appointments, voicemails and phone calls, handling telehealth calls, ordering injections, and communicating with physical therapists.
  • Communicate with patients, physician and health care professionals on a plan for optimal patient-centered care.
  • Educate athletes on injury prevention techniques and proper rehabilitation methods.
  • Accurately document patient injuries, treatments, and progress in a timely and organized manner, ensuring all records are complete and up to date.
  • Apply clinical expertise and interpersonal skills to enhance the patient experience, promoting a supportive, efficient, and professional environment during each office visit.
  • Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and ensuring confidentiality in all communications and documentation.
  • Stay updated on the latest research and best practices in sports medicine and athletic training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
