About The Position

Certified athletic trainers (AT-C) provide educational services, community outreach activities, and athletic training services. They promote efficiency of operations within the sports medicine program. Athletic trainers participate in the improvement and promotion of the CMH&C sports medicine program. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training.
  • No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training.
  • Previous work as a high school athletic trainer is preferred.
  • Graduate Assistant education as a certified athletic trainer may count towards experience.
  • Certified Athletic Trainer NAT.
  • Certified Athletic Trainer KS.
  • Certified Athletic Trainer MO.
  • Employees must obtain Certified Athletic Trainer MO or equivalent within 90 days.
  • Employees must obtain Certified Athletic Trainer KS or equivalent within 90 days.
  • ATC NAT Certified Athletic Trainer NAT National Athletic Training Certification through the Board of Certification Required Upon Hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provides safe, high quality, athletic training services that delivers optimal outcomes for athletes.
  • Provides sports-related education to hospital staff, students, athletes and the community.
  • Provides education on sports injuries, prevention and care.
  • Provides patient/athlete and family education regarding use of crutches, cast and splint care, skin assessment, and home exercises.
  • Participates in promoting continuing educational opportunities for the community.
  • Provides input to Communications and Marketing to assist in the development of educational information and implementation of strategies to promote Sports Medicine services in the community.
  • Participates in educational teaching opportunities as needed.
  • Participates in the education of athletic training students with established partnerships of accredited athletic training programs.
  • Promotes efficiency and improvement of operations within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Musculoskeletal Science/Sports Medicine Center.
  • Uses current research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge, enhance role performance, and improve athletic training care quality.
  • Delivers care in a customer friendly way consistent with the philosophy, mission, vision and values of the Department and organization.
