Position: Certified Arborist – Technician – Part Time Reports to: Project Manager General Qualities: - Is a proactive self-starter. - Meeting with clients to discuss their landscaping needs. - Can accomplish assigned tasks independently with guidance from their supervisor. - Ability to work in all weather conditions and at heights. - Completes timecard daily. Technical Responsibilities: - Certified to work on a NYCDOT projects on NYC Department of Park & Recreation (NYCDP&R) property, to inspect the removal and installation of trees and other vegetation - Assesses and evaluates the condition of trees and other vegetation. - Maintains tree inventories. - Assessing soil and space requirements for new trees. - Proven work experience as an Arborist or similar role. - Knowledge of soil biology and fertilizer compositions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/equivalent.
  • Must be a “Registered Consulting Arborist” by the American Society of Consulting Arborists (A.S.C.A), and must be familiar with NYCDP&R standards, specifications, and reporting OR
  • Must possess certification from International Society of Arboriculture (I.S.A) with the minimum credential of Certified Arborist.
  • Completion of an accredited Arborist training program
  • Ability to climb trees and work at heights.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on active construction sites.
  • Willingness to work night and weekend shifts as required by the project.
  • Proven work experience as an Arborist or similar role.

Nice To Haves

  • NYC Parks Department experience is desirable.
  • Previous experience as Certified Arborist is desirable.
