About The Position

The Certifications Manager will be expected to develop and manage contacted services and deliverables, help the team develop services, and grant proposals, and will direct student interns with a primary focus on building and the built environment certifications. They will be required to make day-to-day management and resource allocation decisions based on their assigned project budgets and scopes. They will focus largely on grant proposals aimed at the revenue generation through RFP’s and grant submissions for Lifelong Homes and Communities. This is a Part-time position. Full Consideration Date: Monday, April 27th, 2026, 11:59pm (MT) Description of Work Unit The Institute for the Built Environment (IBE) is housed within the College of Health and Human Sciences at Colorado State University (CSU). IBE is an interdisciplinary group of faculty, students and staff who focus on social and environmental sustainability through the built environment. IBE specializes in program development and management for public and private sector clients for individual buildings, whole organizations, organizational programs, and at the neighborhood or community scale. IBE provides thought leadership, services, research, and education centered around community engagement, facilitation, healthy green buildings, custom sustainability programs, social science, and regenerative development. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. interior, or architectural design, construction management, engineering, real estate, sustainability, organizational development, business, sociology, etc.) with at least 4 years' experience OR Master’s degree in a related field with at least 2 years' experience
  • Experience with 3rd party rating systems and related credentials (e.g., LEED, WELL Building Standard, etc.).
  • Demonstrated project management abilities, especially working with diverse and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in sustainable/green/healthy built environments.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability and interest in mentoring and managing junior staff and/or students
  • Graphic design capabilities and proficiency Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software
  • Successful management of sustainability services and/or programs
  • Facilitation experience
  • Professional consulting experience including project management software, detailed time tracking, and invoicing

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute new and existing organizational sustainability programs at IBE.
  • Provide leadership and management for IBE’s third-party certification services including LEED, WELL, and IBE’s Lifelong Communities and Homes program, as well as other third-party certification as needed.
  • Manage project-level schedule, budget, and deliverables, including reports, with minimal supervision and serve as the primary point of contact for clients and grantors.
  • Hire, supervise, manage, and mentor students and assure quality work products for IBE service and research projects.
  • Contribute to an array of other awarded project activities on an as-needed basis including facilitation, community engagement, reports and presentations, and research and technical analysis.
  • Support the development of IBE service and research proposals including writing, scoping, and estimating.
  • Participate in organizational leadership and management including staff meetings, leadership meetings and retreats, strategic planning, and day-to-day organizational tasks.
