About The Position

Luminator is seeking a Certification Engineer who is responsible for managing and executing the certification process for aerospace products and parts in compliance with FAA, DoD, and customer requirements. This role ensures that all qualification testing, documentation, and regulatory correspondence meet applicable standards and directives.

Requirements

  • Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Quality Control Analysis — Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate performance.
  • Complex Problem Solving — Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Judgment and Decision Making — Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate.
  • Deductive Reasoning — The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Aviation, or related discipline required.
  • Minimum 3 plus years of experience with aircraft certification.
  • Strong understanding of regulations, directives, standards, and guidance materials for parts certification (e.g., FAA CFRs, RTCA/DO-160, DO-178, Military Specifications).
  • Technical knowledge of production and inspection processes for complex aerospace products.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance methods and techniques.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more of the following FAA designations, with at least 5 years of relevant experience, highly preferred: FAA DMIR FAA ODAR Designee Member ODA Unit Member FAA DAR
  • Experience with certification procedures for aircraft and helicopter products and parts; Boeing experience is a plus.
  • Experience writing qualification test plans, certification documentation, and final reports preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with qualification testing and test equipment preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple programs simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage certification plans, qualification test procedures, and final test reports for aerospace programs.
  • Coordinate with Engineering teams and customers to ensure successful execution of certification activities.
  • Oversee multiple programs through the certification process, ensuring compliance with FAA, DoD, and customer requirements.
  • Manage FAA correspondence and finalize certification issue reviews to ensure documentation meets regulatory standards.
  • Develop certification testing support through accredited laboratories.
  • Support qualification test setups, testing, and equipment management.
  • Ensure quality assurance compliance, including First Article Inspections, Final Assembly, Airworthiness Approvals, and Conformity inspections.
  • Other duties as assigned.
