This position is at Fort Connect. Fort Connect is an application based program for high school students who would benefit from a non-traditional approach to learning with a more hands-on, smaller group approach. Teachers of any secondary certification area use a design thinking/innovation model of instruction combined with real-world, project-based experiences to allow students to earn credits while also completing client based projects. This program includes students in grades 9-12 using an alternative program model, focused around client-based/real world learning experiences. Any secondary (9th - 12th grade) active Missouri certification is accepted. Salary is based on the adopted salary schedule for the 25-26 school year at this time (starting salary= $45,200). We accept all previous years in certificated teaching roles as steps on the salary schedule. The Fort Osage School District prioritizes a highly competitive salary schedule, with additional benefits including optional fully paid health insurance, career ladder stipends (up to $5,000), extra duty stipend opportunities and more. Purpose Statement This teacher works closely with students who require non-traditional approaches to learning, provides individualized instruction and supports to help them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. This teacher facilitates real-world learning experiences that connect classroom learning to practical, hands-on experiences in the community through client centered projects. The teacher of alternative programming collaborates with community partners to develop internship opportunities, service-learning projects, and other experiential learning opportunities to prepare students for success beyond high school. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in alternative education, secondary education and a passion for helping students discover their potential and achieve their goals. This candidate should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. This job reports to the Principal of Alternative Programming.
