The Certified Nursing Assistant Apprentice at Froedtert Health participates in the interdisciplinary care team to deliver patient care. This role involves providing hands-on patient care, assisting registered nurses with treatments and procedures, and ensuring patient comfort and safety under supervision. The position requires maintaining supplies and equipment on the nursing unit and reporting to the Nurse Manager and RNs on duty.

  • Participates with the interdisciplinary care team in the delivery of the patient's plan of care.
  • Provides hands-on patient care and assists the RN and other team members with treatments and procedures.
  • Reports pertinent information to the appropriate care team member.
  • Performs specific service and technical duties necessary to provide for the comfort, care, and safety of patients.
  • Assists in maintaining supplies and equipment on the nursing unit.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification is required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
  • Good interpersonal skills to interact positively and effectively with patients, visitors, and hospital personnel.
  • Sound communication and writing skills.
  • Math skills to perform simple arithmetic calculations.
  • Observational and analytical skills to identify patient changes/problems to prioritize and react appropriately.
  • Familiarity with PCs and other computerized patient care tools, or demonstrated ability to learn.
