The HVAC Technician position at North Oaks Health System involves maintaining and repairing various heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The technician will be responsible for ensuring the proper operation of plant equipment, which includes chillers, boilers, package units, and VAV systems. The role requires a strong understanding of safety regulations and the ability to work independently without direct supervision. The technician will also be involved in training new employees and coordinating with other departments to ensure timely job completion.

  • Inspect P.M. and maintain proper operation of plant equipment including heating, steam, ventilating, A/C, and energy management operations.
  • Ensure quantity and quality of work performed by the department.
  • Coordinate various craft requirements with other departments to ensure timely job completion.
  • Inspect jobs in the field to ensure acceptable performance.
  • Repair wiring and electronic components associated with automated building management systems.
  • Replace expansion valves, compressors, motors, coil units, and other component parts.
  • Assist other employees of Plant Operations and provide technical assistance with HVAC systems.
  • Follow department policy and directions required to ensure work performance.
  • Arrange for shift and working schedules, determine priorities and overtime requirements.
  • Review plans and specifications for proposed heating, ventilation, and A/C-refrigerator systems.
  • Requisition materials for authorized work orders and keep records of time and material expended.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance inspections, and adjust, clean, and calibrate various systems.
  • Assist in training new and other employees in functions and operation of plant equipment.
  • Participate in education and training programs.
  • Perform additional duties as required and directed.
  • Cooperate and work with fellow employees.
  • Follow North Oaks Health System's Compliance Programs and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines.
  • Drive North Oaks Health System's vehicles, maintaining a current State Drivers License and a good driving record.
  • Previous HVAC technician experience with chillers, boilers, package units, and VAV systems.
  • Knowledge of pertinent rules and regulations, guidelines, and safety regulations.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Possession or timely acquisition of a refrigerant transition and recovery certificate.
  • Ability to perform manual tasks such as bending, walking, climbing ladders, and standing for long periods.
  • Considerable hand-eye coordination and accuracy in adjusting and repairing equipment.
