As a program of Southside Unlimited , a nonprofit dedicated to artistic expression, personal growth, and active citizenship for adults with developmental disabilities , Work of Art is redefining what an art studio can be! We’re looking for a passionate, creative Ceramic Art Instructor to join our growing team and help artists reach their full potential—both creatively and personally. As an Art Instructor, you’ll play a key role in shaping an innovative, person-centered studio environment. You’ll be part of a team that believes deeply in inclusion, creativity, and the power of art to build meaningful lives in the community . Requirements

  • BA in Art or related field (or equivalent demonstrated skill level)
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance, and vehicle registration
  • Ability to pass a background check

Nice To Haves

  • BA in Art or a strong background across multiple mediums (painting, drawing, digital art, mixed media)
  • Experience in human services and/or teaching strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with computers and Adobe Suite
  • Strong communication, listening, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to break down concepts and teach at varying paces
  • Actively practicing, professionally recognized artist preferred
  • Organized and able to juggle multiple projects
  • Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic studio environment
  • Confident and communicative , asking for help when needed
  • A creative thinker eager to share your talents
  • Solution-oriented , approaching challenges with curiosity
  • Equipped with a great sense of humor and a positive outlook

Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 instruction and mentorship to artists as they develop their skills and creative vision
  • Collaborating with a supportive team to problem-solve teaching strategies and adapt instruction to individual learning styles
  • Creating and leading new workshops and community-based art experiences
  • Researching and coordinating local art events, exhibitions, and opportunities
  • Supporting studio operations by assisting customers, documenting daily progress, and maintaining participant records
  • Coordinating and facilitating annual participant meetings and required documentation
