About The Position

Working under the direction of a supervisor the centrifuge/DE bittering operator is responsible for the safe efficient operation of the ultra-filtration systems including the Bucher system. This system works to debitter the juice through a complex series of membranes and resin columns. The operator must be proficient with all systems and how they operate and troubleshoot ordinary and routine operating problems.

Requirements

Basic computer skills, i.e., the ability to read, understand and operate a touch screen and understand what the information is directing the operator to do.
High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
The ability to meet flexible and changing priorities and the ability to work under pressure is a must.
80% walking, climbing stairs and ladders in a plant environment on uneven surfaces which are often slippery and wet.
20% operating a computer touch screen in the UF room.
The ability to lift 50 lbs. on occasion is a must.

Responsibilities

Food Safety is the responsibility of all Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees. All Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees must be aware of CCPs in their area and how to document them appropriately. All staff must report food safety and quality problems to their immediate supervisor in charge during their shift.
Perform startup / shutdown on centrifuge/De-bittering and Bucher systems.
Utilize centrifuges to reduce pulp to specified levels.
Utilize a table mounted Thermo Scientific Centrifuge for pulp sampling testing.
Clean up and sanitize centrifuges/De-bittering system and Bucher system
Perform enzyme addition at the UF and record on log sheets
Perform startup and shutdown on 701’s, GSE 200’s, SAK’ and S.A 100’s.
Clean up and sanitize 701’s, GSE 200’s, SAK’ and S.A 100’s, SAK’ and S.A 100’s.
Perform cartridge repairs when necessary.
Perform deb column/vessels regenerations when necessary.
Maintain handwritten record and daily log of U.F functions, GSE 200’s, SAK’s and Bucher systems.
Keep close communication with shift Supervisor/Foreman to meet target specifications.
Follow all safety rules and practices to include the wearing of all essential personal protective equipment.
Follow all personal hygiene and food safety/quality practices.
Safely operate a Forklift when necessary.
Complete daily Forklift check when using forklift
Act professionally towards customers, vendors and other visitors to the plant.
Demonstrate reliable attendance, consistent punctuality and a positive attitude always.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or department manager.
