About The Position

The Centralized Clinical Practice Specialist (CCPS) is a nurse with Nursing Professional Development (NPD) practice judgment and expertise who influences professional role competence and the growth of learners in a variety of settings, with a desired outcome of improved health. This role is responsible for developing tools, theories, skills, and knowledge to advance the practice of the NPD specialty across the organization. The CCPS designs, delivers, and evaluates educational programs for nursing staff across the organization in collaboration with decentralized leaders and NPD practitioners to promote evidence-based practice that ensures high-quality, safe practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree required
  • Registered Professional Nurse currently licensed in Tennessee.
  • Certification in Nursing Professional Development required within 6 months of reaching eligibility criteria.
  • BLS
  • BLS instructor required within 6 months of hire
  • Minimum 3 years professional nursing experience in direct patient care required
  • 1 year documented training-related experience, such as content expert activities/precepting, etc.
  • Adult teaching experience.
  • Significant experience in clinical practice across the ages and lifespan of the population served at Dolly Children's Hospital.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of appropriate methods of delivery of information and the ability to develop and facilitate relevant and effective education for adult learners
  • Proven expertise in adult learning theory and instructional design principles
  • Strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including nursing staff, leadership, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and strong organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft products
  • Mentoring and fostering empowerment skills.
  • Possess data collection and analysis skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree or DNP preferred or willing to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Partner for practice transitions to support healthcare team members across the practice and learning environments, roles, and professional stages.
  • Participates in clinical preceptor educational programs and provides ongoing support to clinical preceptor coaches and develops unit staff as clinical preceptors and mentors.
  • Performs assessments, analyzes issues, trends, and supports data related to educational needs and other pertinent situations.
  • Performs system assessments, analyzes issues, trends, and supports data related to educational needs in other pertinent situations.
  • Acts as a resource and liaison to the organization.
  • Participates in hospital committees and activities to assess educational needs and provide training and development input, in collaboration with other pertinent clinical leadership.
  • Serves as an effective change agent.
  • Coordinates and helps facilitate transition to practice programs for clinical staff.
  • Stays at the forefront of professional development by actively participating in continuing education, ensuring a high level of competency and expertise.
  • Participated and contributes expertise to CPD projects as needed.
  • Manages program budgets responsibly and fiscally.
