About The Position

The Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Technician plays a crucial role in the Centralized Telemetry Unit, responsible for the ongoing surveillance of patient cardiac monitors across multiple floors and settings. This position requires the technician to provide immediate notifications to registered nurses and clinicians regarding any changes in cardiac rhythms, ensuring timely and effective patient care. The technician is tasked with the admission setup of telemetry monitors for clinical units, as well as performing monitor discharges and maintenance. To qualify for this role, candidates must have completed a Cardiac Dysrhythmia Course and successfully passed a rhythm analysis examination. In this role, the technician maintains high-level surveillance of patients' cardiac rhythms, documenting heart rhythm measurements every four hours. They are responsible for initiating and discontinuing monitoring equipment during patient admissions, transfers, or discharges, and performing necessary configurations. The technician also handles clerical duties related to patient admissions, discharges, and documentation from the Central Cardiac Monitoring Room. Clear communication is essential, as the technician must relay information about changes in patient rhythms to nursing and clinical staff effectively. Additionally, the technician is expected to orient and mentor new staff members, serve as a resource for training and troubleshooting, and maintain and stock all designated equipment, including telemetry and monitoring cables. They must adhere to confidentiality protocols regarding patient and staff information and develop cooperative relationships with nursing and clinical staff to respond to inquiries and requests efficiently. The work environment is clinical, and the technician is accountable for meeting job-specific obligations while complying with organizational policies and procedures.
