About The Position
The Centralized Bed Placement Specialist is a crucial role within Health First, dedicated to ensuring exceptional quality and customer experience in patient logistics. This position serves as the single point of contact for all patient admissions and transfers across Health First hospitals, focusing on timely and appropriate placement of patients. The specialist evaluates inpatient admissions and transfers, directing placement decisions based on patient diagnosis, acuity, and unit criteria. They are responsible for assessing available hospital beds and developing contingency plans to maintain uninterrupted operations. In addition, the specialist initiates interdisciplinary discussions with care teams and operational leaders to manage patient placements effectively, especially during high-capacity situations. The role requires the specialist to utilize complex algorithms for time-sensitive patient events, facilitating the relocation of patients in critical scenarios while maintaining real-time communication with healthcare teams. Collaboration with Transfer Access RN Case Managers and operational leaders is essential for the timely placement of emergent patient populations, including those requiring immediate attention for conditions such as Code Blue, STEMI, and Trauma Alerts. The specialist also plays a vital role in supporting nursing units by documenting order statuses and participating in daily hospital huddles to address logistical concerns and advocate for optimal patient placements. Overall, the Centralized Bed Placement Specialist is integral to maintaining patient safety and operational efficiency within the hospital system, ensuring that all patients receive the appropriate care in a timely manner.
