About The Position

As a Central Utility Plant Operator at JLL, you'll serve as the technical expert responsible for maintaining critical infrastructure operations in New London, CT. This role combines advanced technical knowledge with independent decision-making to ensure continuous utility services for our clients. You'll operate sophisticated building management systems and monitor complex mechanical equipment while maintaining JLL's standards of safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance. Your expertise ensures seamless facility operations and directly supports our commitment to delivering exceptional property management services.

Requirements

  • Connecticut State Operators License or equivalent education to qualify for Connecticut licensing examination (OE2, S1-S3, D1-D3, B1-B3) within one month of employment
  • Proven experience working with CMMS work order management systems such as Corrigo, Maximo, HotSOS, and other Amadeus platform applications for documentation and workflow management
  • Flexibility to work all shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays to support 365/24/7 utility plant operations as business needs require
  • Physical ability to perform facility rounds, equipment inspections, and manual operations in industrial plant environments
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in utility plant operations, boiler systems, or critical facility management
  • Knowledge of water treatment processes, chemical handling, and water quality testing
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems, HVAC controls, and energy management platforms
  • Understanding of data center operations and environmental monitoring systems
  • Experience with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
  • Additional certifications in building operations or facility management

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control Central Utility Plant operations using Building Management Systems (BMS) and manual controls, optimizing equipment performance and energy efficiency
  • Conduct facility rounds and inspections of CUP-related building systems, identifying issues and documenting findings to prevent equipment failures
  • Respond to system malfunctions, abnormal conditions, and occupant comfort complaints by diagnosing problems and implementing corrective actions
  • Manage water chemistry programs across boiler, condensate, condenser, and chilled water systems according to industry standards
  • Create work orders in CMMS platforms for equipment deficiencies while maintaining accurate documentation of operational activities
  • Communicate facility status and emergent issues to supervision and stakeholders, providing professional updates on equipment performance
