Central Utility Plant Engineer
About The Position
Founded in 1975, BR+A Consulting Engineers maintains a total staff of over 500 employees located at our main office in Boston and branch offices in New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Vienna, VA (Washington, DC); Coral Gables, FL (Miami); Chicago, IL; St. Louis, MO; Tampa, FL; Charlotte, NC; Charleston, SC; Houston, TX; New Haven, CT; Los Angeles, CA; Denver, CO; and Toronto. BR+A provides state-of-the-art integrated and coordinated mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection consulting engineering, technology systems design, lighting design, and building commissioning services. BR+A has an immediate opening in our NY office to hire an established mechanical engineer with 5 -8 years of experience in the design and construction of central utility plants. The position is in the HVAC department for the engineer to perform central utilities work in the scope of building services engineering - primarily for Hospitals, Laboratories, and Higher Education facilities. Strong engineering knowledge and experience of chilled water, heating hot water/steam, cooling towers, and heat recovery systems is required. Similarly demonstrable success in engineering design and the ability to innovate in a practical manner necessary to be successful in this position. We work in a highly collaborative environment therefore strong coordination skills with other MEP disciples, Energy Engineers and architects are required. Requirements
- 5 -8 years of experience in the design and construction of central utility plants
- Strong engineering knowledge and experience of chilled water, heating hot water/steam, cooling towers, and heat recovery systems is required
- Demonstrable success in engineering design and the ability to innovate in a practical manner necessary to be successful in this position
- Strong coordination skills with other MEP disciples, Energy Engineers and architects are required
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
Nice To Haves
- Working knowledge of REVIT, Navisworks and ACAD
- PE license
- Additional credentials are also desirable - these could include CEM with AEE, CHS with ASHRAE, LEED, etc.
