Monitors and directs patient flow to and from inpatient, ambulatory, ancillary departments as determined by identified support areas of service. Prioritizes and routes patient transportation request in a timely manner based on assessment of current staff availability and hospital status (i.e. Code Purple, PACU 888, etc.). Assesses data reflective of the patient’s status and appropriately interprets information relative to the patient’s age specific needs to determine appropriate transport. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span. Understands and utilizes policies on Standard Precautions, MRI safety, Back Safety, Isolation Techniques, medical emergency response, and appropriate Hand-off procedures (SBAR) to assess and route patient transportation requests. Assist modalities in additional duties to encourage efficiency. These duties include and are not limited to: Regularly checks equipment, accessories, and supplies; report malfunctioning equipment so repairs can be made. The incumbent works flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.
