Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prefer purchasing experience in a health related facility.
  • Must have training in cost control and inventory management.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
  • Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must be able to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and potentially hostile people within the facility.
  • Must be able to speak, write and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, employees, residents, and families.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct procurement programs and activities.
  • Ensure all purchase orders are properly prepared, submitted and filed as required.
  • Prepare correspondence and claims concerning damaged merchandise, errors in shipment, etc., and return to vendor as required.
  • Ensure that all storage areas are clean and properly arranged at all times.
  • Review requisitions from departments for routine supplies and equipment in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Identify and obtain approval for purchasing major equipment for your department in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Plan, develop, organize, and implement a procedure for scheduling patient appointments with the outpatient clinics.
  • Effectively communicate appointments to required staff and patients/family members.
  • Review and submit lab requisitions on a timely basis, utilizing the facilities EHR system (PointClickCare).
