UPHS – Marquette is a 222 bed hospital in Marquette, MI and houses the region’s only Level II Trauma Center and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). How you’ll contribute The Central Sterile Technician collects, decontaminates, stores and distributes all reusable supplies and patient care equipment in the hospital.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Valid driver's license in State of Michigan

Responsibilities

  • Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
  • Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.
  • Provides customer service to all departments with a focus on the patient need.
  • Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
  • Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.
