Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • Central Sterile Technician (CSR) certification within 6 months of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, sterilize, store, and distribute reusable surgical instruments and patient care equipment throughout the hospital.
  • Ensure all instrument processing follows established guidelines and regulatory standards, including AAMI, AORN, TJC, OSHA, manufacturer instructions, and hospital policies.
  • Operate sterilization and departmental equipment safely and efficiently according to manufacturer instructions.
  • Process and document sterile supplies and equipment using chemical, biological, and mechanical indicators to confirm proper sterilization.
  • Monitor and perform antimicrobial and disinfectant solution testing daily while maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Maintain organized sterile storage areas and help ensure supplies and equipment are readily available for patient care needs.
  • Provide excellent customer service to surgical teams and hospital departments while supporting safe, timely patient care.
