More about our team The operating room is equipped with six beds and handles an average of 400 cases per month. The scope of procedures includes a diverse range of specialties: Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Cataract and Retinal Eye surgeries, Gynecologic, Laparoscopic and Endoscopic, Orthopedic, Pain Management, Plastic and Reconstructive, and Gastroenterological surgeries. The majority of cases are general and orthopedic. Surgical operations are conducted Monday through Friday, with additional night, weekend, and holiday call rotations to ensure continuous coverage.

Requirements

  • One year of experience preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • ASLS certification preferred
  • License: Central Sterile Technician (CSR) certification within 6 months of hire
  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire

Responsibilities

  • Collects, inspects, decontaminates, assembles, sterilizes, stores, and distributes reusable supplies and patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, OSHA, manufacturer instructions, and hospital policy
  • Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with an emphasis on safety
  • Processes and documents sterile supplies using chemical, biological, and mechanical indicators to verify sterility
  • Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solution testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation requirements
  • Provides customer service to all departments with a focus on patient needs
  • Prepares surgical operating suites with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment, and supplies; ensures equipment and instruments are in proper working order
  • Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients
  • Passes instruments to physicians during surgical procedures and maintains accurate counts of instruments and supplies
  • Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and decisive judgment; works effectively with minimal supervision; functions efficiently in a fast-paced, stressful environment and takes appropriate action as needed
