Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Understanding of the principles and methods of sterilization
  • Understanding of the importance of infection control and good aseptic techniques
  • Understanding of the importance of documentation
  • Thorough knowledge of instruments and scopes
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and telephone etiquette
  • Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
  • Central Service Certification (by IAHCSMM or CBSPD) required.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years (full time equivalent) central sterile experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Distribute flexible scopes, biopsy instruments, traveling video carts, and other supplies and equipment used in endoscopic patient care.
  • Assist with the set-up, changeover, and stocking of procedure rooms.
  • Ensure instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated for safe handling.
  • Assemble and package instruments for sterilization according to procedure.
  • Monitor sterilization and processing equipment for proper functioning and maintain required documentation records.
  • Operate computer systems properly and safely.
  • Assemble case carts, house-wide procedure carts, and instrument drawers accurately and timely to ensure availability for surgery.
  • Respond to routine and non-routine requests for materials, supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Record and maintain department quality-management indicators.
  • Promote professional growth and development of self and others.
