About The Position

The Laser Specialist is primarily responsible for operating and maintaining the NuTrace laser and related tools and equipment, performing 2D and etching of all SPD instruments. Will also function as the Sterile Processing instrument specialist providing expertise with associated surgical instruments, tracking and resolving missing instrument issues, identifying instruments for replacement and maintaining all appropriate records for safety/compliance. This position may also perform other activities within SPD including: decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of supplies and equipment. Participates on special projects as needed or required.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of SPM system
  • Successful completion of an accredited school of Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology or 18 months relevant Sterile Processing experience
  • Must have minimum of 2 years central sterile technician experience supporting complex surgical and clinical services in similar setting or combination of required certification and relevant experience, training, and demonstrated skills.
  • Laser certification with the ability to run an up to Class IV laser
  • Knowledge and practice of infectious control techniques and medical terminology
  • Demonstrated experience and good working knowledge of MS Office Word, Outlook & Excel
  • Current full CRCST or CSPDT certification. Must maintain certification by taking CEUs and renewing certification.
  • Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment
