About The Position

We are seeking a Central Sterile Processing Technician, also referred to as our Sterilization Technician, Sterile Tech, Central Supply Tech or SPD Processor. The Sterilization Technician plays a critical role in maintaining patient safety in our hospital. The Sterile Tech ensure surgical instruments, equipment and medical devices are properly cleaned, sterilized and ready to use. They prevent infection and ensure sterile conditions are met throughout the hospital. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate

Nice To Haves

  • At least two (2) years experience as a Central Sterile Technician in an acute care hospital setting
  • Central Supply Certified Certification

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for decontamination, preparation, sterilization of central sterile trays, instruments and equipment
  • Receive used surgical instruments and equipment from various hospital units and manually clean them using enzymatic solutions and brushes to remove blood, tissue, and other contaminants
  • Carefully inspect instruments for damage or malfunction, assemble surgical trays according to specific procedure guidelines, and replace or report any defective or missing items
  • Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ethylene oxide gas sterilizers, and hydrogen peroxide plasma sterilizers, ensuring proper loading, cycle selection, and accurate documentation for each sterilization run
  • Maintain detailed records of sterilization logs, biological indicator results, and equipment maintenance while adhering to infection control, OSHA, AAMI, and Joint Commission standards, and actively participating in quality assurance and instrument tracking systems
