Requirements

High school diploma/GED or equivalent with no experience
Employees in a Central Sterile position on or before 12/27/2020 are grandfathered and do not need certification unless moving to a position that requires it.
Certification required for employees in PA and NY facilities (MD facilities are excluded).
New hires in PA and NY have 18 months from hire to obtain certification.
Accepted Certifications: Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) OR Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) with Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)
Act 31, 33, 34, 73 clearances with renewal
Must be able to stand for the entire shift.
Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 35 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technician or Sterile Processing program (preferred)

Responsibilities

Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments manually and mechanically
Assemble surgical trays and set up case carts per procedure requirements
Monitor and document sterilizer parameters; troubleshoot equipment
Maintain inventory and ensure proper storage and distribution
Follow infection control, safety, and sterile processing protocols
Communicate effectively with team members and other departments
Participate in performance improvement and educational programs
Demonstrate accountability, time management, and healthy work habits
Build positive relationships and mentor others
