About The Position

The Central Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies. The technician plays a vital role in infection control and ensures the safety and efficacy of all sterilized items used in patient care. The role requires adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST or CBSPD).
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and administrative staff, fostering positive and collaborative working relationships.
• Demonstrates sound judgment in following detailed written or verbal instructions and effectively resolving routine issues involving clearly defined variables in standardized situations.
• Bilingual (Spanish preferred).
• Must be able to read and interpret regulations, procedures, and manuals; write reports, correspondence, and curricula; and speak effectively before groups, staff, and community members.
• Exposure to potential hazards such as biological materials, chemicals, and infectious diseases, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
• Manual dexterity and visual acuity for inspecting and assembling delicate instruments.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in sterile processing, instrument care, or a related field is preferred.
