We are looking for a dynamic individual who is responsible for accurately performing the pre-access functions for scheduled patients, which includes scheduling outpatient diagnostic procedures and completing the pre-registration and insurance verification processes. Responsible for accurately performing verification of benefits for all hospital patients. Arranges for the efficient and orderly pre-admission of inpatients and outpatients, and appropriate follow up for emergency department admissions. Ensures that patient information is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures. Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters information required for admission into computer database. Distributes appropriate information to ancillary departments. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities. This position serves as a lead for all central scheduling personnel, ensuring standard scheduling practices across all departments and serving as the lead resource for the entire scheduling team. Serves as a liaison to leadership team for all scheduling activates and processes. Coordinates with leadership team to ensure all corporate initiatives and quality metrics related to scheduling are met.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Current BLS certification
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Able to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to respond to any communication required by phone.
  • Displays an aptitude for general office equipment.
  • Minimum of one-year scheduling experience within a health care setting required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises all scheduling staff and delegates appropriately ensuring assignments are fair and equal
  • Assists with functions and responsibilities of the department as needed to achieve cooperation and teamwork through effective communication and positive public relations with patients, staff, and public.
  • Schedules and coordinates elective procedures for the operating room, GI Lab, Cath Lab (if applicable).
  • Completes the daily OR schedule in a timely manner and distributes to the appropriate departments.
