It is also home to the Cotton Family Birth Center which has received the Baby Friendly designation by Baby-Friendly USA. Scope of work Responsible for inspecting, disinfecting, assembling, processing and distributing patient care instruments, equipment and supplies in accordance with established policies, procedures and Association of Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards. Acts as a role model and resource to peers and other members of the health care team related to processing of equipment, instruments, and supplies. Stores, rotates and ensures all instruments and supplies are correctly labeled.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required
  • Successful completion of sterile processing program (internal or external) Required
  • Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Tech (CSPDT) – CBSPD - Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution within 1 year Required
  • Or Registered Central Services Technician, Certified (CRCST) – IAHCSMM - International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management within 1 year Required

Responsibilities

  • Instrument Processing & Sterilization Cleans and inspects soiled instruments using proper PPE. Tests equipment with tools like insulation and leak testers to ensure sterilization. Assembles instruments per established standards and IFUs.
  • Quality & Accuracy Strives for zero defects through thorough inspections. Maintains a low error rate and high productivity.
  • Team Support & Communication Serves as a role model and resource for peers. Responds to phone requests and departmental issues professionally.
  • Workflow & Prioritization Prioritizes processing based on surgical schedules and physician needs. Handles vendor trays and complex instrumentation efficiently.
  • Technical Proficiency Differentiates instrument functionality and specialties. Monitors sterilization equipment and submits repair requests as needed. Expertly assembles high-complexity trays like implants and ambulatory kits.
  • Customer Service Ensures timely, professional handling of all customer area requests.
