About The Position

Wills Eye Hospital is hiring a Central Processing Department (CPD) Technician in Philadelphia, PA . In this role, you’ll be responsible for preparing instrumentation for use, maintaining quality controls for sterilizing equipment and supplies, and for maintaining all instruments sterilization based on recommended practices and guidelines . This is a Per Diem opportunity for someone who wants to play a vital role in preventing infection and ensuring the accuracy of surgical instrument preparation . Requirements

  • High School diploma required .
  • Completion of a nationally recognized sterile processing program.
  • Sterile Processing Certification.
  • One (1) year of clinical experience.
  • You may be a strong fit for this role if you demonstrate adaptability, flexibility, and accountability when changes are made in job description and responsibility, including performing all qualified duties throughout other areas of the hospital.
  • You enjoy working as part of a team, communicating clearly, and supporting both patients and providers.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of clinical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes and assembles routine and specialty surgical instrument trays and other sterilized supplies.
  • Cleans instruments and other medical devices to prepare them for sterilization.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of proper sterilization techniques.
  • Maintains instruments for sterilization based on recommended practices and ensure safe decontamination of equipment and instrumentation.
  • Ensures sterility of all surgical instruments prior to surgery.
  • Inspect instrument trays for completeness and replacing surgical materials as needed.
  • Notifies designated personnel of instruments in need of repair, shortages of instruments or problems with surgical materials/instruments.
