The STEM Department is seeking a dedicated and innovative full-time Science Resource Teacher to support the newly established Scripps Mesa STEAM Lab and enhance science education within the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD). This position is designed to provide engaging and supplementary Science and Engineering programming for students in the Scripps Ranch cluster and beyond. The STEAM Lab, located at 10380 Spring Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92131, will serve as a hub for hands-on learning experiences, including field trips and project-based learning activities. In this role, the Resource Teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing various projects that may include 3D printing, gardening, and climate change initiatives. The teacher will also develop and facilitate field trip programming for students from transitional kindergarten through 12th grade, ensuring that all logistics for these trips are well-coordinated. Collaboration is key in this position, as the Resource Teacher will work closely with other members of the UTK-12 Science leadership team and district department teams to support science instruction across the district. The Resource Teacher will engage in lesson planning and co-teaching with site educators before and during lab visits, fostering a collaborative learning environment. Additionally, the teacher will visit school sites to co-plan lessons and projects with teachers, and will support the development and implementation of a math tutoring schedule. A willingness to connect and collaborate with local business partners is also essential, as this role aims to bridge educational experiences with real-world applications. Flexibility in working hours is expected to accommodate the needs of the program and its participants.
