About The Position

The position involves inspecting, wrapping, rotating, cutting, testing, and ordering meat for new and existing retail customers. The role is essential for the operation of the meat market, especially in the absence of the manager. The employee will be responsible for various tasks that ensure the smooth running of the meat department.

Requirements

  • Typically requires 5-8 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of department product, food preparation, and equipment required.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • 2-3 years experience in meat cutting, food preparation, and equipment required.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Must be familiar with over 100 cuts of meat.
  • Responsible for Market operation in Manager's absence.
  • Assists Manager with organization and delegation of duties, including scheduling.
  • Cuts meat for full and self-service cases.
  • Organizes and delegates the day-to-day operation of the meat market.
  • Places and receives meat orders, includes inventory control.
  • Monitors work conditions for safety and sanitation.
  • Cleans, sanitizes, and organizes the meat cooler, the cutting room, and the wrap station.
  • Performs cutting tests on the profitability of retail meat cuts.
  • Provides internal customer service.
  • Assists in supervising up to 10 employees in the Market Department.
