About The Position

The Central Distribution Specialist assists in the receipt, marking, storing, and delivery of books, supplies, materials, and equipment. Key responsibilities include filling orders, maintaining inventory, accurately filing requisitions, and making deliveries to various district locations and for special functions. The role also involves processing and delivering instructional material orders to campuses and assisting personnel with verification. In terms of receiving, the specialist checks in and stocks incoming merchandise, tags stock for inventory control, and ensures merchandise and excess stock are kept clean and organized. Additional duties include picking up and transferring district equipment and in-class support materials, removing surplus items, and managing district-related donations. The specialist is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety standards of the distribution center and delivery vehicles, reporting mechanical deficiencies, and adhering to district safety protocols. The position requires maintaining technology competence and implementing alternative methods of instruction as needed.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Valid Texas driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed written or verbal instructions
  • Flexible and able to adjust daily routine
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in high volume warehouse environment

Responsibilities

  • Fill orders and perform routine housekeeping chores as directed.
  • Maintain inventory in the assigned area.
  • File requisitions accurately, quickly, and in the prescribed order.
  • Make deliveries to district locations as required.
  • Make deliveries to support district functions as required.
  • Work special functions (i.e. central distribution auctions, graduation functions, etc.) with notice.
  • Process and deliver instructional material orders to all district campuses.
  • Assist campus personnel with verification of instructional material orders.
  • Check-in and receive incoming merchandise per established receiving instructions.
  • Stock all processed incoming freight.
  • Tag all incoming central distribution stock per the program for stocking and inventory control.
  • Keep merchandise clean and straight on stock shelves.
  • Keep excess stock in good order in the established alternate locations.
  • Pick up and transfer district equipment and in-class support materials.
  • Pick up and removal of district surplus items.
  • Complete the receiving, pick up and transfer of district-related donations.
  • Keep the distribution center clean and up to established safety standards.
  • Keep delivery vehicles clean and orderly.
  • Report any mechanical deficiencies to supervisors.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
  • Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
