Description: Under pharmacist supervision, supports the pharmacy department in one or more of the following areas: inventory, preparation, distribution, compounding, processing medications and supplies, and repackaging bulk medications into unit dose. The main duties of this position will be the unit dose repackaging but are not limited to this work. Leads and assists with all functions required for medication repackaging and unit dose labelling, including: library and template management for repackaged medications, inventory control of repackaged medications, repackaging equipment cleaning and maintenance (including troubleshooting with vendors), preparing and executing repackaging and unit dose labelling of medications for pharmacist check, working closely with pharmacists on standard works for repackaging, and record keeping for jobs performed. Key job duties may consist of handling supplies, stocking prepackaged items, maintaining inventory, delivering supplies, maintaining records, and distributing supplies. May assist in bulk compounding and preparation of I.V. solutions. Works with pharmacy staff to minimize the potential for medication errors. Exercises sound judgement, anticipates potential issues and challenges in common situations and applies standard policies and procedures to determine solutions or escalation. The main shift for this position will be Monday-Friday 0700-1530 and will include a rotating Sunday shift. Qualities required for this position include, but are not limited to autonomous and self-motivated, detail oriented and organized, able to multi-task and prioritize safely and efficiently, communication skills, logical thinking and problem solving, and reliability in attendance and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Requires the absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs.
  • Requires strong mathematical calculation skills.
  • Requires working knowledge and skills as a pharmacy technician in assigned areas and ability to work within established procedures under moderate supervision.
  • Requires effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires effective customer service skills.
  • Requires intermediate proficiency typing and using Microsoft Office applications.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Requires Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Pharmacy Technician National Certification required unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.

Nice To Haves

  • clean room experience and aseptic technique

  • 2+ years relevant experience preferred.
