About The Position

The Distribution Central Construction Engineer provides engineering support for the Pole Replacement and other infrastructure projects by engineering and managing construction projects designed to maintain and improve the reliability of our transmission/distribution infrastructure. About this job: Provide engineering support for the Distribution Pole Replacement and other infrastructure projects Design electric facilities following the Capital Business Processes Supervise projects and oversee contract and company construction crews Perform computer related functions such as engineering analysis, drawing, spreadsheets, and database compilations Compile and write technical reports Responding to customers' needs by performing field investigations Survey and inspection of routes Ensure that cost estimates meet company standards and current tariffs Assist in developing project-specific capital budgets Assist and work closely with Division operations Complete on-call after-hours duties, periodically, for one week at a time; this requires the individual to reside in the greater metro area; includes response to emergency situations and calling personnel out for after-hours activities Perform individual lifts and carried office supplies up to 25 pounds All NorthWestern Energy employees are required to adhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct & Ethics Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectives

Requirements

  • Must have a B.S. degree in Engineering (Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Must have diploma by start date.)
  • Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer's License is preferred
  • Working knowledge and experience in construction and design preferred
  • Experience with SAP, line design and DDS is preferred
  • Knowledge of International Fuel Gas Code, NESC, NEC, and the DOT. Part 191 and 192 is preferred
  • General understanding of survey and inspection techniques and microprocessor-based equipment preferred
  • Get Into Energy - Energy Industry Fundamental 2.0 certification is a plus (click the link to certify at no cost)

Responsibilities
