About The Position

BH Shared Services (a UHS company) located in Brentwood, TN is currently seeking an experienced Central Appeals Support Specialist to join our established team. POSITION SUMMARY: Central Appeals Support Specialist This role is responsible for managing and supporting the behavioral health appeals process, including following up with insurance companies, refiling denied or underpaid claims, and maintaining detailed records of appeal outcomes. Preferably, the ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in healthcare claims and billing with a strong understanding of behavioral health services and payer requirements. Requirements

  • High School degree required, Vocational/Technical School Graduate preferred
  • 1-3 years related experience required, 3-5 preferred
  • Medical/Coding certification preferred
  • Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding and insurance billing guidelines.
  • Experience working with electronic health records (EHR) systems (MIDAS/Cerner/AS400).
  • Familiarity with Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial payer requirements for behavioral health.
  • Knowledge of how to navigate the behavioral health revenue cycle.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills with excellent attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Track and follow up on behavioral health appeals submitted to insurance companies, resolve claim, and appeal issues effectively
  • Refile denied or incorrectly processed claims in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Analyze Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), denial codes, and remittance advice to determine appeal strategy.
  • Maintain detailed and organized records of appeal submissions, follow-ups, outcomes, and trends.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.
