About The Position

The Centerless Grinder Operator is responsible for efficiently operating centerless grinding machines to produce parts according to blueprint specifications. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to quality standards, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment under moderate supervision.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of experience in the operation of centerless grinding machines.
  • Ability to read blueprints in English and inspect parts accurately.
  • Mathematical skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to measure lengths and distances and calculate areas, volumes, and weights.
  • Basic visual and dimensional inspection skills using tools like calipers and micrometers.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe work area.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a centerless grinding machine to produce parts according to specifications and instructions.
  • Dress wheel to obtain proper finish and effective removal of stock.
  • Set guide rail, adjust the wheel to size, and set stop length.
  • Analyze the best grinding method based on work material.
  • Mount grinding wheel and regulating wheel on spindles using wrenches.
  • Position and secure work rest at a specified height using wrenches.
  • Lift and position the workpiece manually or with a hoist and secure it between wheels and on the work rest.
  • Start machines and observe operation.
  • Verify the dimension of the workpiece for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Change worn grinding wheels using wrenches.
  • Report malfunctioning machines to the Lead or Supervisor.
