About The Position

The Center Manager will be based at the Richardson Bay Audubon Center and Sanctuary (RBACS) in Tiburon, CA. The position will coordinate educational and community programming, summer camp, event planning, and the general operations of the RBACS. This role will manage programs that connect diverse audiences to the natural world, emphasizing hands-on learning, community involvement, and conservation literacy. The Center Manager will oversee vendors, contractors, and on-site tenants to ensure the safety and proper maintenance of the grounds, buildings, and visitor spaces. Additionally, they will lead the hiring, training, and supervision of summer camp fellows, interns, and seasonal staff at the RBACS. This position reports to the Program Director, San Francisco Bay and will work closely with the Debs Park Center Director, and with coastal program staff. The general schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, (approximately 8 am to 4 pm) on-site at RBACS. However, some evenings and weekends may be required as needed for programs and events.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and five years’ relevant experience in community engagement and/or conservation. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Must have supervisory experience with either interns, fellows, seasonal staff, or full-time staff.
Experience with education programs and outreach events development and implementation.
Experience working with teens and young adults is required.
Ability to think strategically and creatively, while managing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and operating in a dynamic environment where priorities can change often.
Self-starter with a strong collaborative work ethic and ability to work independently.
Excellent attention to detail.
Experience working with multigenerational audiences and diverse cultural communities and a commitment to increasing equity, diversity and inclusion as a core component of our work.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking, public presentation, and the ability to synthesize and communicate technical and complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences

Available for weekend and evening work as needed.
Experience with Microsoft office suite including Excel.
Ability to lift or carry equipment up to 50lbs with or without accommodation.
Valid driver’s license required.

Nice To Haves

Bird and plant identification skills a plus (especially knowledge of local shorebirds, waterfowl, common songbirds, and raptors, as well as wetland, upland, and pollinator plants).
Experience fostering inclusive and collaborative work environments is valued.

Responsibilities

Manage conservation and habitat restoration programs or events for audiences of all ages, including school groups, community members, and families.
Manage Audubon Youth Leaders (AYL) program and supervise Community Conservation Fellows.
Recruit teens and young adults from alternative programs for AYL, and engage them in community science, restoration work, and the native plant nursery at RBACS.
Implement RBACS Audubon Adventure Camp including the hiring and supervision of seasonal naturalists and camp managers as well as administration of camp registration, parent/guardian pre-program engagement, and day to day operations ensuring a safe and equitable experience for campers.
Manage all volunteers at RBACS, including planning and implementing community volunteer events focused on center needs (e.g., trail maintenance, weeding, and other center-based projects)
Ensure all volunteers and program participants are properly trained, onboarded, and retained as needed.
Oversee the management of the grounds and buildings by interacting with contractors and vendors, coordinating repairs with the operations team, and supervision of on-site tenants.
Collaborate with colleagues across the Americas including through joint planning and execution of shared priorities.
Maintains and fosters culture of safety.
Support a culture of philanthropy, including public funding efforts.
Engage in Audubon wide initiatives and meetings as it relates to Centers, education programming, summer camps, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
