The Center for Disability Services at Everett Community College is seeking a temporary, part-time Office Assistant to support the implementation of accommodations and services for students with disabilities. This role involves a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring that students receive the necessary support to succeed in their academic endeavors. The Office Assistant will assist with accommodations such as proctored tests, notetaking coordination, adaptive furniture and equipment, and alternate format texts (AFT) remediation. Responsibilities include scanning and editing textbooks, providing classroom support, and performing clerical office work. The position also requires providing customer service and office desk coverage, which includes answering phones, scheduling appointments, and providing information to students, faculty, staff, parents, and community members. The Office Assistant will be responsible for proctoring tests for accommodated exams, scribing or reading for students during testing or lectures, and taking classroom notes. They will coordinate notetakers and organize classroom notes, as well as move and adjust adaptive furniture as needed. Additionally, the role involves tagging and editing text in Word and PDF formats to ensure accessibility for assistive technology. The Office Assistant will also assist students during their assigned classroom coursework, ensuring they have the support they need to participate fully in their education. In terms of clerical duties, the Office Assistant will perform routine assignments such as drafting correspondence, scanning documents, entering data, and maintaining both electronic and paper files. They will photocopy and collate files, perform routine checks of office areas to keep them organized, and answer and route phone calls. The role also includes receiving, greeting, and referring visitors, as well as scheduling appointments, meetings, workshops, and conferences. The Office Assistant may be required to perform other duties as assigned to support departmental operations and meet the needs of students with disabilities, including providing technical support and collaborating with other departments to ensure effective and efficient operations.
