About The Position

MTC operates the Joliet Job Corps Center in Joliet, IN, providing quality services to local youth. MTC values its professional and caring employees who are dedicated to improving people’s lives. The Center Director reports to the vice president, eastern region, and directly supervises the programs director, health & wellness director, OA/CTS director finance & administration, the managers of and safety/security & transportation, the student personnel officer, and the executive assistant. This role is responsible for the overall management of the center, ensuring compliance with government and management directives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five years experience in program management and direction.
  • Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and direct the total administrative and programmatic activities of the center.
  • Coordinate with corporate, DOL and other contractor personnel to ensure efficient center functioning and contract compliance.
  • Establish center plans, center standard operating procedures, programs, goals and objectives to achieve management controls.
  • Direct programmatic efforts to ensure obtainment of follow on contract or expanded center business and coordinate with the corporate office on proposal preparation, negotiation and contractual modification activities.
  • Ensure compliance with established budgets, purchase limitations, travel restrictions and general contract limitations; maintain stability and consistency with DOL and MTC goals and objectives.
  • Regularly assess and audit center for contractual compliance and quality of services to students; prepare reports on audits and assessments.
  • Regularly inspect facility; maintain quality standards.
  • Recommend and execute final decisions on contract, budget, organization, program and administrative matters in accordance with the corporate decision analysis table (DAT).
  • Provide staff training; evaluate staff performance and implement organizational and personnel actions in accordance with the DAT and directives of the vice president, western region.
  • Maintain communication with student body via student government association and conduct scheduled meetings.
  • Establish and maintain close contact with government, community, civic and news media officials to promote acceptance and involvement in the program.
  • Provide control of center reports, policies, procedures, torts and other claims, staff travel, student terminations, disclosure of information, experimental projects, emergency use of personnel, equipment and facilities.
  • Provide interface and coordination with the national training contractors.
  • Review and make recommendations on grievances, discrimination charges, requests for termination and other critical personnel matters and forward to corporate office for approvals.
  • Provide oversight of the MTC Student App, ensuring relevant staff members are trained and inputting campus information into the app, including but not limited to recreation/professional development activities, student mail, campus dining options, announcements, student and staff awards, Student Government elections, campus map, and any other available features in the app.
  • Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.
  • Participate in student employability programs and activities.
  • Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.
  • Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
  • Maintain accountability of staff, students and property; adhere to safety practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
