About The Position

The Center Assistant at Kumon North America, Inc. plays a crucial role in providing individualized instruction to early learners and primary students using the Kumon Method. This part-time position involves working closely with students to develop their study habits, assess their skills, and ensure they are progressing according to their goals. The Center Assistant also supports the Instructor in grading, communication with parents, and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Requirements

• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Intermediate written communication skills preferred.
• Proficient math skills are a plus.
• Proficient in basic computer usage.
• Customer service-minded individual.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to one or two younger or new Kumon students using the Kumon Method and worksheets.
• Ensure proper study habits and work skills are developed in students.
• Individualize strategies for student development based on goals and communication with the Instructor.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of student skills development.
• Work closely with the Instructor to understand lesson plans and goals for each student.
• Grade student classwork, homework, and corrections, and organize student worksheets.
• Ensure student classwork is completed and corrected to 100%.
• Assess oral reading ability and provide necessary feedback to reading students.
• Provide assistance and guidance to students as needed, adhering to Kumon Method standards.
• Communicate with students and parents during class-time, addressing their needs professionally.
• Assist with book check in/out and booking center appointments.
• Relay messages and parental concerns to the Instructor or Assistant Instructor in a timely manner.
• Prepare student files and develop knowledge of the Kumon method and worksheets.
• Assist with marketing initiatives and retention events.
