About the position
The US Census Bureau is seeking Field Representatives to conduct interviews primarily in person to collect survey or census data within assigned geographic areas. This role involves communicating with respondents and accurately entering data into a computer or survey forms. Field Representatives will also maintain payroll records and complete necessary training.
Responsibilities
- Conduct interviews primarily in person and occasionally by phone to collect survey or census data.
- Communicate effectively with respondents, supervisors, and other relevant parties.
- Understand and explain survey materials to respondents, ensuring accurate data collection.
- Enter accurate and complete information into a laptop computer or onto survey forms.
- Maintain personal payroll records reflecting hours worked, miles driven, and reimbursements for travel and communications.
- Complete and attend necessary training, either in-person or online.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Good hearing and ability to read small print on surveys.
- Good physical condition to drive, climb stairs, and walk for extended periods.
- Occasionally lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- Ability to work a varying number of hours per week.
- Willingness to occasionally travel overnight for training and work assignments.
- Access to a vehicle or public transportation for work throughout the assigned area.
- Establish and maintain a safe work environment in your residence.
- Ability to use various communication methods (face-to-face, phone, email, etc.).
- Access to a landline or mobile phone and an internet connection.
