About The Position

The Maintenance Manager at a 150-year-old cement manufacturing company is responsible for coordinating and supervising maintenance repairs and preventive/predictive maintenance activities for the cement plant equipment and machinery. This role involves direct or indirect supervision of maintenance-related employees, overseeing capital expenditures, and significant involvement in plant budget preparation and control.

Requirements

  • 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Cement Manufacturing facility with specific exposure to management responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Establish, communicate, and assign job responsibilities, goals, and performance standards for employees within the Maintenance Department.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other department management regarding maintenance projects and priorities.
  • Review, plan, schedule, and supervise all maintenance repairs and preventive maintenance activities for the plant.
  • Develop and execute major shutdown schedules, real-time updates, and post-shutdown critiques.
  • Oversee all aspects of the maintenance department.
  • Evaluate performance and recommend merit increases and promotions.
  • Obtain, coordinate, and supervise the work of contractors for specified repairs.
  • Meet with vendors regarding new maintenance equipment and other supplies needed for executing maintenance responsibilities.
  • Support and actively participate in plant safety and environmental programs.
  • Coordinate with plant management on priorities and schedules for plant projects.
  • Work with Planner to review, plan schedule and supervise all maintenance repair and preventive/predictive maintenance activities for the plant.
  • Investigate and resolve unusual problems or difficulties in maintenance projects.
  • Specify engineering data and solicit competitive pricing on the purchase of major equipment and parts.
  • Coordinate with storeroom personnel concerning the number of supplies and parts needed for maintenance activities.
  • Work with Planner to compile records and data regarding maintenance projects and prepare reports for management.
  • Ensure that maintenance personnel comply with plant and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) safety rules and regulations.
  • Assist in developing the annual budget, implementing the approved budget, preparing maintenance budget and capital project documentation.
  • Ensure proper training is conducted for new department employees and existing employees as needed.
  • Conduct meetings for supervisors and department heads to set maintenance priorities and environmental issues.
  • Collaborate with Plant Manager to discuss goals, strategic planning, etc., and ensure that these directives are achieved.
  • Perform daily surveillance of operations by conducting plant inspections and discussing maintenance requirements with supervisors.
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings and train employees on safety regulations and standards.
  • Evaluate safety hazards on a proactive basis and investigate accidents.
  • Participate in labor contract negotiations, investigate problems, and try to resolve them before they become grievances and meet with union representatives.
  • Review the maintenance reports to analyze trends.
  • Assist Plant Manager in preparing annual budgets for company executives.
  • Recommend improvements and other types of suggestions to improve plant operations.
