Cement Heavy Haul Driver

About The Position

The Cement Heavy Haul is an experienced commercial vehicle driver who transports field storage bins and equipment to various locations, performs daily inspections and maintenance on equipment, and blows down units to ensure all residual cement mix from previous job is fully removed.

Requirements

  • 3 years CDL-A driving experience preferred
  • Maintain a valid CDL and clean driving record required
  • Maintenance experience required
  • Must have knowledge of all equipment used in cement operations
  • Familiarity with Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations required
  • Able to pass a DOT pre-employment drug test and physical examination required
  • Able to pass a road test required
  • Able to operate both manual and automatic transmissions required
  • Able to perform pre- and post-trip CMV inspection required
  • Must be familiar with electronic logging devices
  • Must be able to deliver field storage bins to very limited size spaces
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills required
  • Independent worker, must be able to safely perform duties with little or no supervision
  • Must be physically able to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crawl, walk on uneven surfaces, and climb equipment ladders or stairs throughout the work shift
  • Must be physically able to safely lift 50 lbs. above head
  • Must be physically able to withstand all weather conditions including extreme heat and cold

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the retrieval and safe delivery of field storage bins
  • Communicate with dispatch to confirm proper movement of equipment and cement and to verify customer instructions
  • Perform hotshot pickups
  • Deliver cement equipment to various locations
  • Performs daily maintenance on equipment
  • Maintain upkeep of vehicles
  • Blow down unit to ensure the removal of all residual cement mix from the previous job
  • Maintain accurate daily Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association (FMCSA) E-LOG requirements
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections per Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, ensure equipment is operational, and verify proper fluid levels
  • Always fuel up before return trip
  • Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Other duties as assigned
